The idea in the 20th anniversary thread about what the girls are doing 20 years later got me thinking and *then* everyone started hypothesizing about whether or not E-beth would be able to stay in the colonies and that made it even worse!

So, I want to know what you think each of the girls (or any other characters) do as adults.

My guesses:
I've thought that Felicity would marry Ben. I remember thinking this even when I was like 9 and reading them for the first time. I still have to re-read the books (the last time was probably... oph, five years?) but that's what I remember from my earlier years.

Kirsten I picture heading even further west, becoming a school teacher and marrying another settler.

Sam I always pictured as a journalist, making strides for women in the field, maybe eventually marrying a policitician and being reminscent of like Elenor Roosevelt or something.

Molly, I just sort of thought college, and then marriage, as a working mom. I imagined though that her brother Ricky would marry either Linda or Susan,.

Josefina and Addy I can't really remember what I thought, and I'm not as familar with their time periods, or more appropriately, the ones after, but I'll think about it some more. ANd, I haven't read Kit or Kaya's books at all yet, but as soon as I do, I'll probably have some ideas.

Anyway I can't wait to hear all your ideas!

EDIT: I changed the topic title to be more accurate.

You are full of great ideas! I'll have to think on this one too!

Addy would have gone on to that school for "colored children" in her short story and become a teacher. She will spend much time analyzing, in Addy's patient way, what freedom should mean to everyone, not just former slaves, and would tell her students willingly about her life both in slavery and free. I think she would use these times to gain insight into how others perceive freedom; I get the feeling that's a very special perception to her. She'd be the one teacher every student would remember as one of their heroes.

I wish AG would do something really cool for passing the 20 year mark! Perhaps new outfits for all the historicals, (and a major sale!) and maybe one book containing short stories of all the girls' growing up. Stories a little longer than the short ones, but not as long as the regular books.

I love the idea of having a major sale! I would hope they do something exciting for all their loyal customers!

I would be thrilled to see a short story for each of the girls 20 years later...describing their challenges and accomplishments growing up, and where their lives took them. It would also be neat to see some of the characters with their own daughters...the next generation of American Girls.

For the 20th, I'd love to see AG do a book about AG, that is about Pleasant Rowland, how the line developed, the sale to Mattel, etc. There's a lot more I'd also like to see them do (new outfits for everyone) but a history of AG would be wonderful especially if it included insights into how exactly the different historical dolls were developed, the research, etc.
